Artist's Statement

The common element throughout my textile and mixed media work is stitch. Whether by hand or by machine, I am fascinated by the ability of simple sewn marks to alter a prepared surface, creating textural interest, structural integrity and emotional response.

I work quietly and intuitively in my home studio, exploring possibilities and resolving ideas, inspired by nature and the beautiful surrounds of North Norfolk. Where possible, I prefer to source vintage or discarded materials to re-imagine and re-purpose.

A qualified, now retired teacher, I exhibit work regularly and share expertise through tutoring and mentoring. I am a member of West Norfolk Artists Association and a founder member of multi disciplinary art group Links and Layers www.linksandlayers.weebly.com
